What are the moral parameters which must be observed in making a television program? When has the filmmaker gone too far in telling the story? When in the interest of making the program, does one intrude too much on private lives without the permission of the people or a clear understanding of the ultimate consequences on their lives? With three powerful programs, in this session we ask the ethical questions: Is there a line? Were is it? Is it sometimes necessary that line be crossed and, if so, what is the responsibility, not only of the director, but also of television pregrammers in presenting programs which show such transgressions?
