The process by which a creative artist or performer produce their work is a perennial source of fascination, but often degenerates on TV into a ritualistic obeisance to the myth of the artist as ultimately incomprehensible genius. In the three programs presented here the producers have all attempted to bring us closer to the actual experience of creation, warts and all, but they each use a different approach.
