Crime and violence are universal problems reflected in network news, documentaries, television drama, 'detective' series and reality series. This session looks at these forms and how they are used to describe, analyse and sometimes explain crime as a prevaling problem in society. Does the focus on crime and violence the real situation or are public broadcaster drawn to 'juicer' stories from the underground to attract audiences? What happen when the filmaker uses TV as an investigative tool to pursue personal justice for him/herself or the character? Sometimes the 'gritty' real detective stories betas the drama shows hands down.
