Viewers often complain that “there are too many depressing programmes on TV”. Indeed, human distress is fare in most “realistic TV output. These 3 programmes focus on people having a bad time while stressing their struggle to keep up as human beings. Each one uses a different technique: “Home is where the heart is” is a written-for-TV drama, “Homeless” is real life documentary, and “When the dog bites” mixes both factual and fictional sequences.
