Arts programming generally poses its own special problems to the producer. How do you make two-dimensional, static art into visually exciting television? How do you capture the spirit of a live performance? Contemporary art is even more difficult because it is likely to be unfamiliar and not conform to the expectations of a general audience. The various techniques of video art have stimulated television producers and programmers to design arts programmes of new and different kinds. Dance, poetry, the visual, video and film arts, as presented in various innovative television formats, will be shown in this session.
