There are some people who still remember what the roots of television in the public interest were. It was still television, but it had an extra attribute: educational. As time went by it became more and more comprehensive and complex, so its educational features slowly faded away, and even its name changed to “public television.” There are still hundreds of questions that PTV should ask and answer for its viewers. Producers, journalists, and filmmakers have to be able to show what is hard to see. They have to explain what is almost unexplainable, or reveal the wrong doings of those people or institutions in which – normally – we trust. The three programs of the session show public television in its best form: smart, concentrated, fact-filled, visually provoking and engaging. For some hours you can feel the wonder and excitement of your favourite class all over again.
