What conditions does our world presently provide for us to see each other tomorrow? The BBC and UNICEF, supported by half a dozen television stations around the world, set out to answer this question through a global investigation and inventory of the year 1983. The result GLOBAL REPORT – A YEAR IN THE LIFE OF THE WORLD, 1983 presents brief but human visits to the first, second, third and fourth worlds to find out how the global community is doing. Problems are abundant but the post-industrial society has solutions to every single one of them –at least this is what futurologist Alvin Toffler is telling us in THE THIRD WAVE. Confronting the issues facing all four worlds (as presented by the BBC), the THIRD WAVE is the product of years of collaboration between TV Ontario (Canada) and NHK (Japan).
