Television is upon us. Hungry television viewers constantly expect more and new feedings. And we –the television makers- have to, or think we have to, present audiences with ever more spicy dishes. Are there limits? Sometimes you sit back with a bitter taste of having sacrificed all human decency in dealing with your “victims”. While you rush on to the next program, your “victims” try to recover from the experience of being exposed to the kind, engaged, interested and greedy lions of television. This morning’s three programs can be discussed from this point of view. In the French program, a couple reveal their very personal sexual problems. The British program deals with disabled persons and their sexuality. And finally you can –relaxed in your armchair- be witness to how highly-advanced medical specialists and television people together investigate the heart of a patient so that the person hovering between life and death becomes the focus of a spectacular media event.
