The Cold war is over, the Gulf war was short, but still conflicts continue sometimes in forgotten corners of the world, and the repercussions never end. How much of a duty has the filmmaker to remind us of these: How does he go beyond the immediate violence of war to capture the mood of the people caught in the middle? Through these films, we are invited to witness the daily lives of the people; sense their suffering, examine their personal dilemma, and even sit in on a class where the children are taught to love “Daddy Saddam”.
