The scriptwriter and the director of the programme writes: 'The film is loosely based on the life of Eija, a girl who meets a violent death at the age of seventeen after taking drugs. I was a first - hand witness of thsi of this girl´s fate, so I felt I really knew a lot about the subjet: I wanted the film to be something in between a documentary and fiction, and to consciously enter a new, 'grey area'. The film operates at three main levels. The first is Eija´s fate, the second the work of the film crew, and the third the relation-ship between society and the individual drug-taker. Structurally the film is a reflection of life. It is entity made up of flashes and fantasy woven round the question of Eija´s fate and the moral rights of the documentary maker. At symbolic level the film makers, Juha and Jan, represent us onlookers standing on the side- lines. Every day hundreds of young people live out their 'last month'.
