Documentarians use a range of approaches that go beyond the exploration of an issue, as they attempt to win the audience over to their point of view, perhaps even to encourage the viewer to take action as a result of seeing the programme. Three programmes illsutrate very different ways of making a point. Each raises questions of fairness, balance and the role of television in forming public opinion.
