The way we perceive documentaries is that they are !real' and therefore they tell the truth. Drama in comparison is something that is !make believe'. But now, the boundary between genres is disappearing, some programme makers use creative techniques from both the documentary genre and the drama tool-kit to tell the stories they want to tell. The films in this session include an animation, a drama, and a cross genre documentary. They all have in common the fact that they use a small personal story to tell a much bigger one about the world and about big historic, political and social events. How do these small stories work to tell that big picture? And when do the techniques of documentary, drama and animation help doing this and create a more interesting story?
