Biographies of the famous and important on television -usually a laudable but boring endeavor. The formulas are well known and well worn. The challenge is to provide the profile in a compelling, evocative and entertaining manner while not becoming enslaved by factual accuracy. Making sure the essence of those lives -the accomplishments- get centerstaged is crucial. In these three programmes the creators have ignored conventional techniques and took unusual paths.
