At first sight these two works –the Italian television production THE STORY OF LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP and the Turkish HORSE, MY HORSE- do not seem to have very much in common: their style and their story differ too much for comparison or confrontation. But after a closer look, these contrasts of form and content dissipate because both works treat the fight for survival of the individual amidst a hostile society. In doing so, both are praising the simple unknown hero, whose existence –carried away by the currents of history- may be extinguished and so lost into oblivion.
