How can television convey the story of a life dedicated to making art? Sometimes one can make a dynamic portrait about an artist by using a straightforward biographical approach with traditional elements such as interviews, dramatized excerpts and archival footage. At other times one might use a more abstract approach, especially when the core of the program is about an artist’s concept of art rather than a life history.
