If a television programme takes time, let’s say it’s SLOW, does that mean it is DULL? Today television is a fast, loud, punchy source of information and entertainment. Flash frames. Soundbites. Dominant music. But does it have to be like that? We are irritated by too much speech and are completely shocked by silence. We feel uncomfortable if we have to work as a viewer, if we watch intellectually or emotionally challenging subjects. This is a session for those who know how to read a picture and know the language of the moving image. But do our audiences?
