A dazzling look at Consett, the former steel town, in which an escapologist does his tricks, a drag act sings “There’ll always be an England” and local people talk about their dreams and experiences. It is all intercut with witty drama sequences in which Bill the Dreamer tells Rose that making a fortune is easy. Shot in Black and White and color this film shows that the North East of England is funny and full of surprises.
