Tightrope
Within the last decade and a half, corruption has become a hydra-headed MONSTER relentlessly destroying the very fabric of Nigerian society. It respects neither age nor gender, it brutalises the concepts of fair play and justice, and mocks truth and ridicules transparency. Corruption taunts those who are willing to work hard to build this nation. Families have been destabilised, values have disintegrated, hostilities have erupted between brothers and sisters, and the fragments, called Nigeria, are left reeling under the viciousness of the attack. We have identified the need for women, as the mothers of the nation, to create an enabling environment for the cleansing of the country's pysche. It is essential that we midwife a complete re-orientation in our way of thinking so that we can deliver a new line of approach to our life. This is the story of a lady who finds herself in a position of authority. How does she cope with colleagues in the office, family and relations using corruption as the theme and the way this affects the rest of the society. Through her eyes, we observe the society and proffer solutions. The woman's name is Kelechi, who is faced with the ugly case of the fake version of the company's products all over town. The fake drug producers are smiling all the way to the bank. Task Force officials are making fortunes by blackmailing innocent marketers. To compound this Kelechi's son falls victim to the fake drugs. Mr. Adelaja, Kelechi's husband, calls on the Food and Drug Agency boss who is his friend. They all agree on a plan to track the fake FDA officials who are demanding bribes. Meanwhile the company's printer, afraid of losing customership with Vitacorp keeps vigil to trap the men behind the fake products, who happen to be his own employees. The fake FDA men, hopeful of getting the money get more than that when the boss appears.
