“The man of the week” is what we could call a “press documentary of fiction”. Someone, in this case a modest stone-mason, has achieved a mysterious heroic act that has apparently saved a life. That’s why he has been named “Man of the week”. From this point a true search begins to find out the reasons that lead a man, anonymous until yesterday, to become a legend. The investigation starts from this supposedly real fact and in a formal way satirizing about the way the media manipulates the information. It overloads the spectator with data that doesn’t clarify the events and ends by confusing and baffling him. This production was recorded by mid 1988, in U-matic format and Pal-N system, in Buenos Aires city and surroundings. “The man of the week” won the “Bronze Tatu”, First Feature Award in the XV Latinamerican Film & Video Festival in Salvador, Brazil, and the “Golden Toucan”, First Prize, in the 1988 Rio de Janeiro Film Video & TV international Festival.
