This document was produced in the very prestigious weekly program, 'Envoyé special' broadcast in prime times, just after the news, with amazing success. It is composed of a studio presentation / discussion by two very well-known journalists and of different features and / or documentaries which can be linked or not to current affairs. The document selected, 'The White Queen', is exceptional by many regards: first, because of its author. It is chosen to give Bessek be Kobio the possibility to direct this 45 mn length documentary, the producers of 'Envoyé spécial' have taken the risk to disturb the viewer´s habits. The story of this white wife of an African king, is in itself extraordinary. Claude Njike Bergeret´s life is out of a storybook. Born in 1943 in Douala, Cameroon, she returns to the country where she spent her childhood after having studied in France and having two children from a first marriage. A few years later she marries the chief of Bangante where polygamy is the rule. This daughter of missionairies, who was brought up as a protestant will make her new home in the women´s quarter of the chief´s household and become the White Queen. She has to face being disowned by her family, who blame it on witchcraft, as well as the suspicion of African notables who fear that this white woman may uncover the mysteries of the 'chiefferie.'
