This ground-breaking live entertainmentcelebrates the Muslim holiday of Eid al-fitr.The pandemic changed our daily life and how wecelebrate and observe religious holidays. In timeslike these, TV in general and public broadcasters inparticular, play an important role to gather around, tofeel connected even though we can’t meet physicallywith family, relatives or friends. When it came toNorway’s Muslims, the country’s largest religiousminority, there were no TV traditions to seek comfort in.Hence the idea for this show, being the first of its kindamong Western broadcasters. Now Muslims can see theirtraditions and rituals represented on prime-time TV, andnon-Muslims get to learn about their neighbours and coworkers. It’s a feast that everyone is invited to join! The show is hosted by popular news anchors, Ms. RimaIraki and comedian Yousef Hadaoui. It features celebrityguest interviews, live cooking, humour segments withcomedians, musical and dance performances, as wellas Eid greetings from regular Norwegian Muslims. Asanother first, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess ofNorway joined the hosts and their parents in breakingfast. It is worth noting that as an entertainmentproduction the focus is to display the traditions andstorytelling which surround this day, rather than delveinto the theological aspects of the holiday.
