TV-dramas are rare quality output in public television. We all want the best drama programmes - if they are not too expensive! Aiming towards drama successes you have to keep your sight clear: Which programme qualities and production ingredients are crucial and which could be just waste of money? SOLISTERNA has an unusual manuscript with extraordinary values written by Åsa Lantz. It's her first script for TV. Magdalena Jangard at the public TV-station in Göteborg, Sweden, asked director Geir Hansteen Jörgensen to transform the script to a three pieces new contemporary drama. In the first episod a woman and a man are found tied up in a burning house. They are rescued at the last minute but their daughter perishes in the flames. When the police start investigating the fire the parents refuse to tell what happened. The woman is traumatized but a young police officer manages to gain the woman's confidence. This family seems on the surface to be successful. However a lot of pressure unfolds the truth. Slowly the pieces start falling into place revealing a story of a family heading for disaster. What actually happened in the family home on the night of the 24th of March? How did the parents cope with the fact that their child was not like other children? A dark but warm story about a family with an unusual child.
