This reality show brings together advertising industry professionals, popular YouTubers, traditional entertainers, and TV production teams to collaboratively create content. Marionettes are puppets operated by strings or threads, commonly used in puppet shows. However, in modernday Taiwan, it’s becoming increasingly rare to see this type of performance in person. The Smiling String Puppet Troupe in Chiayi is Taiwan’s only string puppet troupe — made up entirely of elderly performers — showcasing vibrant local stories through their art. Unfortunately, the troupe is currently facing a crisis due to the ageing of its members, and the tradition of passing down their craft is struggling to continue. In this episode, the young hosts have the opportunity to learn how to operate string puppets and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by this traditional art form. Additionally, the hosts will develop a promotional plan aimed at raising awareness for the troupe and its craft. To engage younger audiences, they will create four innovative short videos in different styles, blending modern trends with the rich history of string puppetry to help keep this unique art alive. The core mission is to promote local revitalisation and inject new energy into traditional culture.
