'Positive' is a travelogue documentary series. Two HIV positive people, Lucky Mazibuko and Musa Njoko, travel around South Africa meeting other HIV+ people and their care-givers. They meet people from a wide variety of backgrounds, who tell their stories and paint a personal picture of the AIDS epidemic. We see that people living with AIDS are 'real people', who also have a spirit of adventure, and are capable of deep compassion and support. Some of the people we meet in this series include: a Muslim family who are caring for their dying sister, an Afrikaner woman who rebuilds her relationship with her previously wayward HIV+ husband, the HIV+ sister of a famous TV celebrity, sex workers on a platinum mine and an angel who cares for 475 orphans. For the first time on prime-time television, this series tells some remarkable and untold stories of how HIV is changing the face of South African society. These are stories of incredible survivors, living positively through a devastating epidemic, despite prejudice and fear from a largely ignorant South African society. While many of the stories are about courageous survivors, some of the stories take an honest look at death, dying and despair.
