The people in the village see Wijesinghe as a crazyperson. Every morning he lights the oil lamp and offersit to Lord Buddha. Later he goes to the bazaar wearinga hat, with a famous symbol of left leaning politics,while always speaking up about equality. His communitysees him as a tough fighter, while at home he is a highlysensitive man. Wijesinghe lives with his wife expectingthat at any moment his son, missing since the youthstruggle in 1988-89, will come back. They preparecreamy delicious milk rice with coconut milk and hopetheir son will return any day to enjoy it with them.Anjalee, a Tamil girl, is a boarder in one of their rooms,sharing in their happiness and sadness. She also lives inthe hope of finding her brother, who disappeared duringthe civil war in 2009. Wijesingha and his wife long tosee the face of their missing son, as Anjalee dreams ofbeing reunited with her long missing brother. Sri Lankahas failed to find a positive resolution to the issue ofdisappeared people.
