The first MASS FOR THE HOMELAND after the murder and funeral of the Polish priest Jerzy Popieluszko, held in St. Stanislaw Kotska Church in Warsaw. Using archive material the film examines the story of Fr. Popieluszko and the legacy he left behind. There is an account of the murder and the murderers, and excepts from Fr. Popieluszko’s sermons which was to be his last. There is nothing experimental or formwise new in this film, yet, by clever combining of picture, dialogue and music, the film creates an enormous emotional impact.
