Originally scheduled for November of last year, Chris Morris´ controversial series was delayed at short notice while compliance issues were resolved. The show´s particularly innovative style, on the borderline between current affairs and entertainment, posed a challenge because it raised certain issues for which the only regulatory guidelines apply to current affairs and factual programs. However, following a searching editorial review – at the highest levels within the channel – of both series and its making, Channel 4 is now satisfied there is sufficient public interest in the programs to merit transmission within existing guidelines. Channel 4´s Director of Programes John Willis comments: “We are delighted that we have overcome the problems that delayed our original our scheduling of the series; problems arising precisely because the series was breaking new ground in the disputes borderlands between comedy and current affairs.”
