Al Adrian rushes to the rescue of a small Finnish town and its people after learning that the town’s biggest employer has gone bankrupt. ‘We are approaching a time when artificial intelligence will not only assist people but will take over to save humans from their own mistakes’, Al Adrian says. Al Adrian is a computer-based user interface with a likeable exterior consisting of old recycled parts of a vacuum cleaner, among other things. Even though Al Adrian was built by people, he conducts all his conversations himself. He tends to have a bit of a potty mouth, and he can’t get a job in the new factory just like that, either. Will our brave robot end up in the dump, after all? ‘At the end of the day, this is where the intelligence lies’, says pensioner Mikko Kurkela critically, knocking his human head. ‘But still, the company of artificial intelligence beats being alone’, admits Kauko Hyvärinen. How does a small town in Finland welcome the supremely intelligent Al Adrian? What happens during a primary school visit and in a karaoke session with the Pensioners’ Association? Can AI Adrian save the town in the throes of bankruptcy?
