During news editing, the acoustic rrecordings normally are not even cut up, but melted into an indifferent pulp, half matching the places and events to be shown. The soundman´s best work is in vain, as well as the cameraman´s, both chained together by the ENG- system. In the case of the material I used for TSCHAK- TSCHAK, the cameraman , as a solitary exception in West German TV News departments, not only worked a cool unerring hand - camara but even invested some minutes of 'black' to record choir and organ sounds of the funeral service. Reason enough for me to try a careful and refined visualization and composition of the recorded material: the German political and economic personalities and friends, mourning in the Berlin Kaiser - Wilhelm Memorial Church.
