A fictional mythology inspired by the lives of Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Tokas. Starring Linda Hunt and Linda Basset. Almost everybody knows a few things about the legendary expatriot, Gertrude Stein (Linda Basset). She lived in Paris for forty years with a women named Alice B. Toklas (Linda Hunt) who wrote cookbooks; she said 'a rose is a rose is a rose'; she was a woman completely comfortable calling herself a genius. Almost nobody remembers what day- to day life with Gertrude was like. Gertrude is ill, but she will not tell Alice. Alice suspects the truth and struggles with her deep desire for emotional contact and her sense of impeding loss. When Gertrude finds out she is not dying, confusion and good-humored tension mount between them.
