A sparkling epic comedy of multi-cultural, multi-faith Britain. We open with two unlikely heroes, the prevaricating, white Londoner, Archie Jones, and his intemperate best friend, the Bengali, Samad Iqbal. Wartime friends, they are reunited, when Samad comes to Harlesden in the immigrant wave of the 1970’s. We follow the fortunes of them and their families over the next twenty years. “White Teeth” embraces genetics, eugenics, gender, race, class and history in a story, where human emotion ultimately transcends the boundaries of creed and colour.
