It took almost fi fteen years to make this fi lm. Its characters lived in the Russian city of Kaliningrad, formerly a German town called Königsberg. All its inhabitants were Russian immigrants or children of Russian immigrants who replaced deported Germans after WWII in 1946, when Königsberg became Russian territory. This is a fi lm about life, death, and people who came very close to the edge between the two. It is also a fi lm about love, the brightest manifestation of life. On January 1, 2009, just a few weeks after fi nishing this documentary, its director Oleg Morozov died. This sad event turned his fi lm into a sort of testament in which this gifted author expressed and passed on his attitude about life and death.
