U Short Stories

“Do you masturbate more often than normal?” Rune – The – Insecure (21) goes to see his doctor. He is certain that he has caught some kind of venereal disease. But the doctor disagrees. Rune never had sex! In “U” Short Stories, we meet three young people; Rune, Haavard and Aase, who try to create meaningful lives for themselves in various ways. The series deals with sex, football and parties, but also with the search for love, and a marriage of convenience. “U” Short Stories was nominated as the best youth programme in Norway, and it’s a very unusual fiction series. Each short story was produced by small, multifunctional teams. The directors wrote also the scripts, did the camera work (mini-DV) and edited the programmes (Adobe Premiere). This working method made it possible to use small flexible teams, down to three persons, plus extras in case it was needed. All of the actors are non-professionals, but the intimate production method was a great advantage to enhance very good acting.
