When the Middle East flares in response to twelve cartoons depicting Muhammad, two Danish Muslims attract international attention: Naser Khader, a Danish MP, and Ahmed Akkari, the spokesman for 27 Muslim organisations. Both try to tell the world what was actually going on in Denmark. But that is where the similarities end. The two men are bitter opponents in the Muslim community. Khader heads a group called Democratic Muslims and Akkari speaks on behalf of the Muslims who regard the cartoons as offensive, at best. The film follows the two men during the hectic weeks in which they try to get their diametrically opposed views across. It is an unequal match to begin with: the white population of Denmark and the media have already decided whom to listen to: Khader forges ahead in the opinion polls and Akkari is subjected to public derision. The programme reveals the struggle of a diverse minority to find its place in Danish society.
