Powerful and sensitively made, TO A SAFER PLACE is the personal account of one woman’s life as a victim and survivor of childhood incest. Sexually abused by her father from infancy to early adolescence, Shirley Turcotte is now in her thirties and has succeeded in building a rich and full life. Over the years, with her help of a caring psychiatrist and the support of other survivors, Shirley has retrieved and worked through many memories of her sexual abuse. For this film she took a further step to reconcile her present with her past.
