Timeline tells its story with the fragments of sound and image that comprise memory . The nonlinear structure was inspired by the random access possibilities of interactive video technology. Aplied to the narrative, this result in a plot constructed not by chronological order, but by subliminal connections. Lou is a woman who travels , observes and collects experiences. Her new apartment window faces Jack´s window: and trough this space, contact is made between them. Neither Lou nor Jack can accept the other´s past, and the relation ship ends. This remembered experience becomes another event for Lou to add to the time line she draws on her wall to define her life . The intermittent tap dancing sounds made by Lou´s neighbor comment on the action and serve as a rhythmic sound score for the piece. Timeline was independently produced and broadcast as part of WNT, New York´s 'New Television' series March 30, 1986. It is scheduled for rebroadcast April 17 1988. Timeline was reviewed by Herbert Mitgang in the New York Times. The tape won Best of Festival (Narrative Category) in 1986 Columbus Video Festival and a Special Merit Award at the 1987 Tokyo International Video Festival.
