'A cruel hero hymn, a film about forgotten people in a wasted land'. The scenes of the story mainly take place in a kind of mental hospital, and the people of the story are mostly the aged, village fools etc. The whole story is a cruel and bitter allegory on the modern Finnish Landscape and on the minds of the people living there. It´s a personal tragicomedy dealing with deep feelings of the people who stand up for the last fight for their existence as human beings. The director deals masterfully with the tragic and comic elements, and the whole story is a lovely and melancholic hymn to it´s protagonists. Even the surrealistic level catch a deep touch of realism, even naturalism.
