“The return of the man in white” or “how a man who falls awakens millions of others at the same moment”. The film seeks to be more a portrait, a story bordering on the mythological, than a “report on the Philippine Revolution” in the strict sense of the term. There is, in effetct, a certain fictional dimension to the events as they occurred in the Philippines between 21st August 1983 and 25th February 1986; between the assassination of Benignon de Corazon “Ninoy” Aquino, the nº1 political rival of the Marcos, and the accession of his widow, Corazon “Cory” Aquino, to power. A fictional element which shows itself in the events, and above all, in the persons involved. Because of this, the story of the “People’s power” can appear as something of a Shakespearian fable, in which two couples will work on the imagination of a million people.
