The story of a woman who keeps an asylum for dogs in the capital of Kazakhstan. She is in her late 50's and the only one who helps her is her old mother. She spends the whole of her teacher's salary on feeding dogs. There are over 70 dogs, but she says, sometimes, there were about 100 of them. Some of the dogs were abandoned by their owners, others come to the asylum on their own accord, and she ransomed some of them from the dog catchers. This excessively hard everyday work has already overtaxed her strength and soul, however, she can't overcome the pity she feels for the dogs.
