The escape

World War I. Europe and Germany are at war. Canada joins Great Britain in her fight against “the Hun”. Almost overnight, immigrants of Germanic origin become “enemy agents” in the eyes of the Canadian Government... Many thousands of unfortunate hopefuls who had fled the hardship and strife of Old Europe to better their lot in Canada were bewildered to find themselves imprisoned in internment camps in their new land. The ESCAPE dramatizes the true story of two of these “prisoners of war”. It is a story which for many years remained hidden-part of a chapter that history wanted to forget but which instead was to be repeated in the next World War when North Americans of Japanese, Italian and Germanic origin were confined in identical camps across the continent.
