The dazzled eye

Evgen Bavcar sees the world only through visual impressions from his childhood, spent between two mountains in a Slovanian valley, in Yugoslavia. At ll , an accident left him blind. By interpolating the inward vision of a sightless person with the outward vision of the camara , Jaques Deschamps -with EvgenBavcar as a guide- invites us on a journey to the frontier between the visible and the invisible worlds.EvgenBavcar´s hand palps objects around him. He describes with words what he has seen and imagines what he canot see. His eye - artificial- photographs those he hears or whatever is described to him. From Paris to Ljubljana, through Trieste and the Vipava Vallery, the blind man and the filmmaker explore sceneries and faces; together, through words and pictures, they meditate on the perception of the visible world.
