Political violence separates a couple forever. She tries to be connected with him by her thoughts and he uses his memories of their togetherness as an antidote to the pain of torture. Scenes of her alone on a deserted beach are intermingled with scenes of barbaric torture and scenes of remembered lovemaking.This disturbing fictional treatment of a contentious subject was shown in a festival in Mexico last November, and produced a very controversial response from the viewing audience.
