The cage

Yoav, a slick Tel Aviv bartender is called up for military reserve duty in the occupied West Bank. The swift transition from the carefree urban nightlife to the violence of the Palestinian uprising, happening just 30 minutes from Tel Aviv, numbs him into a reluctant submission to orders. The arrest of a Palestinian suspect leads to an outburst of violence in which Yoav is nearly killed. A postcard found among the prisoner’s belongings links him to Yussuf, a Palestinian cook, with whom works in Tel Aviv. Yoav chooses to seek out Yussuf at the bar and confront him with friendly relationship which flourished in the nightbar’s no-man’s land, explodes. They are both trapped by the violent reality of the Intifada.
