The belovs

This Russian film is deceptively simple, yet it was awarded the Grand Prize at the Saint Petersburg film festival. The film records the daily grind of a Russian peasant woman, the brother who lives with her, and a visit by two other brothers. Slowly the camera becomes a candid part of the family, recording with a dispassionate eye their idiosyncrasies, arguments, drunkenness, poverty and their frustrated hunger for love and identity.
