The Witch

The story of a poor woman living with her dullard son in half-damaged house on the very end of the villagers that they call her the Witch. Egoism, unability to understand and to help-on the contrary of strong maternity love- these are the main dramatic conflicts for S. Rakus the author of the novel. Transforming the novel content to T.V language the director experiments with entirely new methods which the feature film have never used before: the picture is nearly all the time in contrapunt with the sound. The narrator keep on his own epic line while shots to all appearance narrate a different story.The purposeful asynchron destroys the unit of time and space. Sometimes of course the picture meets the sound and women or children are talking in the voice of man-narrator . Sometimes they have their own voices and the story goes on in its classic dramatic way. But at the moment every each voice, shot and music breake to their own dramatic time and space. The critics consider that this kind of art techniques was used on TV screen for the first time. Something similiar did Bertold Brechton the theatre before.
