Using the artistry of the greatest specialists, the “Palettes” series explores the history of painting techniques thorough studied analysis of the main works of great painters. In each programme, the palette used, the composition and the meaning of the painting, the secret processes, and the discoveries of the restoration experts are all revealed and reproduced thanks to modern techniques and analysis. The first of the series – “A painting in the making” – is devoted to Levi’s meal, a monumental work painted in Venice between 1571 and 1573 by Véronèse ( for whom 1988 was the four hundredth anniversary of his death).
