This is the true story that coined the phrase ´The Stockholm Syndrome´ where hostages seem to side with their captors in order to survive. It is told and completed in two TV-genres: drama and documentary. Part 1 - The Drama (88 min): On August 23, 1973, a masked man stepped into a Stockholm bank office at Norrmalm Square armed with sub-maschine gun and taking four hostages. Apart from a large ransom the unknown robber also demanded the immediate release of Clark Olofsson, one of Sweden's most notorious bank robbers. Over the ensuing five days history would be made. A spellbound nation followed the drama unfolding before the on live television. Captivated by cold bloodness of the robbers they suffered with the hostages and rejoiced when the police were at last able to put an end to the hostage siege. Part 2 - The Documentary 58 min: In this unique documentary the robbers, Jan-Erik ´Janne´ Olsson and Clark Olofsson, share completely different versions of what actually happened at the robbery of the bank office. Hostages Kristin Enmark, Birgitta Lundblad and Sven Säfström also open their hearts about the fatefull days they spent locked in the bank vault.
