The Shipmaster exam

The purpose of the program is to present ordinary life in a dramatic structure –live with no reconstruction. In order to create excitement in documentaries you may choose accidents, fatal illnesses or other “life and death” situations in people’s lives.In this series –with collective title “the Eye of the Needle”—we have chosen another path. We focus on a situation which most people recognize because they have experienced it themselves, that is the nerve-racking act of passing or not passing an exam.The program: “the Shipmaster exam”. Shipmaster students pass sixteen exams during the last year of training. Training lasts for four years. The program shows three students passing three decisive exams. The students had in advance given us the permission to use all footage –even the one showing them flunking. We have received con complaints from those who took part in the program.
