The Prodigal son

The series comprises seven 50-minute episodes about the Keppels, a Dutch family that emigrated to South Africa in the 1950s. The story begins in 1994 with the election of President Nelson Mandela. We follow the lives of the Keppel family during eight years in a rapidly changing South Africa. The story is set in both the Netherlands and South Africa, but the farm Arkadia in the vicinity of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape is the central location. It is also the spot where the fate of the Keppel family is sealed and where their future will be decided.
