This is the story of mankind´s creation, told by master photographer, Lennart Nilsson. Equipped with new technology, he takes us on a fantastic voyage through all stages of embryonic and fetal development. The film reveals our 'first birth' within the uterus, when the embryonic human escapes from its egg shell. Another unique sequence shows the brain of a three week-old embryo and how our brain cells grow at an incredible rate of 100,000 new cells per minute. Nilsson has also documented how stemcells use cell differentiation to create new organs and human body parts. For the very first time, we can see how blood vessels are formed in the body. The film comes at a crossroads for the television documentary genre. At a recent world congress, science producers claimed that the audience will have a hard time knowing the difference between fact and fiction. With computer animations, almost any theory can be made to appear as reality. 'The Miracle of Love stands as a protest and alternative to computer-manipulated projects made in the names of science, perhaps it´s the last of its kind,' argues Bo G. Erikson, executive producer. 'Many photographers have tried to imitate Nilsson´s uniquely beautiful and informative fetal portraits, yet none have succeeded.'
